“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here,” asked Alice.
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the cat.
“I don’t much care where-“ said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the cat.
Much like Alice trapped in Wonderland, if your audience doesn’t know where you are taking them with your message, then they won’t have a clear idea what to remember. The best way to simplify your message is to have direction. What do you want your audience to remember? If the answer is everything, then they will remember nothing. Start with a theme and frame your message around it. You get to choose the road they take.
