The Case for Simplicity

“Simplicity is not simple.”  ~Garr Reynolds, Presentation Zen

It saves time:

Simplifying your message is not easy.  But what takes you longer will save your client’s time.  The more concise your message is, the faster they will be able to read and understand what your are trying to say.  It’s not about what is easy for us, but what is easy for them.

It saves credibility:

When your presentations look and sound like everyone else, what you are saying is your product is just like everyone else’s too.  Taking the extra time to simplify your message sets you apart from your competition and makes you look professional.

It saves resources:

Think of the ink and paper that is saved by printing a clean 1-sheet or a brief concise presentation instead of a 50 page data dump deck.  It may not seem like much at first, but it adds up in the long run.
